Just came to know that Jagjit Singh’s (step)daughter is no more. Suicide.

Jagjit and Chitra Singh had already lost a son in the prime of his youth, after which Chitra stopped singing. Some say that’s the reason why Jagjitji has so much dard in his voice.

Many of my most favourite ghazals have been sung by Jagjitji. That way, I share a special bond with him.

Kind of saddened to know of this. I don’t know what to say. I guess I’ll just listen to and put up one of my favourite, magical Jagjit ghazals.

God Bless!

  1. My favourite Jagjit singh ghazal is ‘hosh waalon ko khabar kya’ from Sarfarosh. I wonder what should be going on in his mind, it is just too hard to put myself in his shoes.

may god bless them! i did not like the comments too when i read about them, but i do value jagjitji’s contribution to the music industry. separating the person behind the music from the music, i am a BIG, BIG fan of his ghazals…

  6. Person behind the music and the music – distinct! How very true in all forms of music and infact in all forms of art!

yes, i strongly believe in seeing a piece of art as separate from the personal life of the artist..
