My sis-in-law has an effective way of dealing with the ups and downs in her two kids’ lives when she’s working. She asks them to write down whatever they want to share with her, when she’s not around. That way, she knows what they’re up to and she also feels like she’s sharing a part of their world, even when she’s away. And, it also helps improve their writing skills.
A couple of days back, we were going through some notes that the kids had written to her a few years back. We found some real gems, which quite made my day.
Here’s one example, where one of them (R) is complaining about the other (G). The whole series is called G’s mistakes – and it is divided into 4 parts, quite professionally.
Maama was cleaning up while G was sitting in one of the sofas. Maama told G to sit in another sofa but G didn’t listen. This went on for a long time. After some time, G got up from the sofa. Is this a mistake?
The last line had us all in splits. 🙂
Children have their own way of making you smile, isn’t it?
