Introducing – a new Praful!

The husband has been bitten by the Praful bug (of the Khichdi fame). For the uninitiated, Praful is this hilarious character in the serial Khichdi – part of a Gujarati family – who concocts the weirdest of explanations to all the English words that his equally hilarious wife Hansa cannot decipher. Like, Automatically becomes Auto-mein-takli and likewise.

Of late, the better half has been conjuring up equally weird stories for the books on my bookshelf – depending upon their titles. For instance, The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood becomes the story of two sisters, of which one is in constant fear of the other. The fearful one keeps saying ‘Yeah, yeah’ to everything the other one has to say… till one day, the stronger one gets tired of her. She then leaves her sister to take her own decisions and does not come back till she does. This journey has several anecdotes – involving several characters from Mahamayee to Rajnikant to Mayawati!!

This fever is now spreading, and from books, the range of action has expanded to serials too. Odhani becomes a show where the husband tells the wife – ‘Odu Nee’!

Don’t know what will this mini version of Praful do next. Not that I’m complaining. I’m loving the new, goofy man, who always manages to put a smile on my face, however long or tiring my day might have been.
