The Surprise

The flowers decided to bloom the day she left on her Delhi tour. A patch of brilliant violet in a sea of dreariness. He couldn’t stop smiling. That was so like her. She always took care of him even when she was not around. God alone knew when she had planted them and how she had found the time to water them. It was beyond him – how she had managed to time the blooms to just when his mood was starting to get sour and he was starting to miss her. Perhaps this was what they call the miracle of love?

This is a drabble for the week’s Magpie.
