Songs for the soul – 1

Destination Infinity tagged me some time ago to post my favourite slow songs that are both melodious and have soulful lyrics. I am supposed to do the tag in Hindi as well as Gujarati.

Incidentally, just a few days before this tag was passed on to me, I was thinking of writing about some Gujarati songs that I love. I don’t know much about Gujarati film music, but have a few perennial favourites, which happen to be slow and haunting. In Hindi too, I listen to a lot of slow, melodious songs. So, this tag would be just perfect to list all of them. Thanks, DI! 🙂

In this post, I am putting up the Hindi songs. I’ll be doing a separate post for Gujarati songs very soon.

Sorry for the LOOOOONNNNNG list, people… I just could not resist. 🙂  I love all these songs. As I went on exploring, the line between ‘slow’ and ‘not so slow’ began to blur. 🙂 I have tried to list songs that are ‘slow and melodious’ in my eyes, in terms of beats, style of singing and/or overall effect. I have already posted some of these songs on my blog, along with some older posts. 🙂
